Ilkley is a really easy place to access as it is situated just off the a65. There is also a train station right across the road from the King’s Hall where we were going to see 1970’s band, Showaddywaddy in concert. There is plenty of parking, either at the side of the road or in the car park which is free after 6pm. The car park is about a five minute walk from the Kings hall.

The hall didn’t look that great from outside but once inside it was lovely. There is a big glass roof with blue lights all around it. I think at one time of day the King’s Hall would have been used for dancing. Inside the hall itself all of the seating is on one level, making it difficult for short people at the back to see everything.

The hall was very clean and all of the staff were polite and friendly.

The band was formed by two other groups. These were Golden Hammers and Choise. There are only two remaining members from the original line up of this band. These are Romeo Challenger and Rob Deas. The other additional members are Paul Dixon, Rob Hewins, Dean Loach and Andy Pelos.

Although there are only two from the original line up they were brilliant. Although I am too young to know what they sounded like in the seventies, my friend said they sound just the same. About half way through the show they gave people out of the audience a chance to get up on stage and dance with them. Unfortunately I was too slow because I was sitting too far back. A lot of people in the audience were up singing and dancing in the aisles. It was a really enjoyable night.

They sang songs such as, Under the Moon of Love, Hey Rock and Roll, Heartbeat, Hey Mr Christmas, Three Steps to Heaven and many more.

I would recommend this show to anybody. It was a brilliant night out even though it was over a two hour drive to get there.

Ilkley is a beautiful little town. Looks even better at Christmas with all the lights switched on.

Rating: 5/5 thumbs_up
