The Thatch in Thame Review

The Thatch in Thame is a beautifully refurbished little pub with a conservatory area and outdoor seating to the back, but with all the character and charm of an olde pub at the front. Our host Evelyn was very polite and accommodating and as such we were given the choice of tables. We chose a little table in the olde part of the pub so we could take in the decor and soak up the friendly atmosphere.
Our waitress, Laura, was superb. She knew all about the days specials off pat and even joked that the soup of the day was so good they’d had some for breakfast. I ordered the soup, curried Parsnip, and the Chicken, Ham Hock and Leak pie. Simon had the specials of Devilled Kidneys and loin of Venison. We were both blown away by the quality of the dishes and promptly cleared our plates.
Forced to try the deserts, I had the special of Vanilla Pannacotta with Raspberry Compote and crushed Meringue, Simon had the Creme Brulee with a Lemon Shortbread. We couldn’t eat another morsel after that but washed it down with a lovely Sauvignon Blanc.
Our whole experience was first class, the service was impeccable, especially Laura and we will definitely return. Thanks again to Evelyn and the whole team.
