It’s happened to the best of us – one minute we’re pretty happy with our bodies and able to enjoy a dessert two nights running without feeling guilty and then suddenly we look in the mirror to be utterly disgusted with what we see staring back at us.
If you’ve realised that you’re a little heavy than you used to be and you’re wanting to get rid of that unwanted weight, then all you need to do is follow these simple tips on how to budge it.
1. You need to drink more
Often when we feel hungry, it’s actually our body telling us that it’s dehydrated. If you find yourself feeling peckish in between meals then try sipping on water throughout the day to avoid getting that hungry feeling.
When it is time to eat, make sure you down a glass of water half an hour before eating. It stops you from overindulging on food that you don’t actually need to eat.
Try sipping on extra cold water too – it makes your metabolism work harder and you’ll burn more calories that way.
2. You need to get off the couch
A crucial part of being healthy is making sure you’re active. Eating the right stuff is hugely important but so is getting the blood pumping around your body. There are all sorts of ways you can exercise these days and if you hate the gym then don’t you worry whatsoever. There are great alternatives and sports that you’ll enjoy so much, you’ll forget you’re even exercising. If you’re quite overweight and find that it prevents you from exercising properly, try swimming as it’s a great overall workout and isn’t rough on the joints.
3. Consult a doctor
Before embarking on any weight loss transformation you should always seek medical advice. If you want to reduce your weight then you should speak with your doctor as they will be able to offer you suggestions and some sound medical advice on how to do it safely.
4. Have an end goal
This one is important as you need to remain motivated otherwise you’ll fail before you’ve even properly begun. You won’t see results straight away and you need to make sure you stick at it until you do. Having short term goals such as fitting into a new pair of jeans are just as important as the bigger, long term ones as they will keep you committed. It’s these end goals that will stop you from scoffing greasy takeaways when you’re feeling weak.
5. Eat little but often
This step is essential to losing weight because you need to keep your metabolism working throughout the day and the only way you can do that is to keep eating. Obviously I’m not suggesting that you eat 6 full sized meals a day as that really would worsen the problem, but having five to six smaller meals a day is definitely a great way to keep your metabolism ticking. It also means your hunger pangs won’t occur half as much as you’ll be eating way more regularly.
