Anyone who knows me knows that I am a real chocoholic so when I was asked if I would like to review some Rita Farhi milk chocolate praline hearts to say I was thrilled was an understatement! Despite being a self-confessed chocoholic I have to say I hadn’t heard of the Rita Farhi chocolate brand before, so I had a quick look at their website to find out a little more about them.

Rita Farhi has been making premium confectionery for over 16 years and they have a lovely selection of chocolate gifts, which they supply to individuals and businesses both in the UK and around the world. They specialise in fruit and nuts and have a fantastic selection of chocolate nuts, savoury nuts, nougat and nut brittle as well as chocolate coated dates, raisins and strawberries. All the chocolates looked and sounded delicious and I couldn’t wait for my box to arrive!

Luckily I didn’t have long to wait and when the chocolates arrived I was quite surprised at how heavy the box was. I took a quick look at the back of the box which told me there was 1000g of chocolate, I was very impressed! The chocolates look absolutely stunning in the signature nine-way gift box, each section has 10 foiled hearts, wrapped in either red or pink foil and with all those hearts it really is the perfect Valentine’s day gift. The hearts are arranged in groups of five in each section of the box with the point of the hearts in the centre, giving an attractive flower shape. There are two layers of chocolates in every section with pink and red hearts are in alternate sections. It really does look very eye-catching and as the box has a clear plastic lid it really showcases the chocolates and catches your eye.
The ingredients are clearly marked on the back of the box and for those who have allergies the allergen ingredients are clearly indicated in bold type. Praline is a smooth, sweet type of confectionery made by boiling nuts in sugar and grinding the mixture so these chocolates are obviously unsuitable for anyone with a nut allergy.

With 90 hearts in the box there are plenty to share which was fortunate as my teenage sons and husband all took a keen interest in sampling the chocolates. Normally I have to hide chocolates away, otherwise they are gone in a flash but with so many in this box they have at least lasted a few days!

So the important bit, what do the chocolates taste like – the chocolates have a lovely thick shell with the hazelnut nut praline nestled in the centre. The milk chocolate is lovely and thick and tastes delicious and the hazelnut praline is smooth and creamy. These chocolates taste absolutely delicious and are very moreish! My husband and sons all loved them too, hence why they only lasted a few days in our house.

When I looked at the website and saw the box retails at £25 I initially thought it was a little expensive for a box of chocolates, however having received the chocolates, tasted them and seen how many there are in the box I do now think they are excellent value for money.

With Valentine’s Day fast approaching these chocolates would make a lovely gift for a loved one. I know I would be thrilled to receive them and can highly recommend them.
