The Comic Relief Menu

Accessed through an unassuming doorway, from the outside it would be easy to write off Rocket as a place of little interest. However, as you walk towards the stairs, greeted by a colourful lit display, and descend into pleasant and friendly surroundings, full of quirky little details like dog themed wallpaper and a multitude of gaily decorated drawer handles, you begin to get a sense that this is actually a much more interesting place to visit than the outside suggests.

We were seated quickly and efficiently by the friendly waitress, who offered to take our coats and made sure we were provided with the relevant menus before leaving us to make our choices. And there was a lot of choice on offer!

We opted to share a starter of Panko Crumb and Coconut King Prawns, which arrived looking incredibly appetising and smelling delicious. With four large prawns on offer, perfectly cooked with just the right amount of crunch on the outside and the prawns inside perfectly succulent, we had just the right amount each to lead us into the main course…

…which for me was the Comic Relief Pizza. Topped with mozzarella, olives, chorizo and peppers (amusingly arranged in a smiley face design), it all added up to a pretty big lunch. The same could be said for the Chicken Milanese – a massive piece of breaded chicken topped with large wafer thin slices of Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese, rocket and cherry tomato and seasoned with a preserved lemon, capers and chilli dressing.

The flavours were all really well chosen and complemented each other well – both meals were cooked perfectly and had they not been, we would have had no problems letting the waitress know either – she was very attentive and made sure we were happy and had everything we needed.

The dessert menu looked amazing – I really wished I had room for the sticky toffee pudding with salted caramel ice cream – but we were simply stuffed from the mains. I have to say, the portions really were enormous and probably even a bit too big for lunchtime; you certainly do get your money’s worth!

With £1 from every Comic Relief pizza sold going to the charity, you get even more for your money and I can certainly recommend trying it (or the other Comic Relief option which included eggs and chilies).

We will definitely be visiting again (they have an extensive breakfast menu too) and if we get the same level of service and food we will be very happy indeed!

The value for money is good, with pizza ranging from £9-£14 and other items from the a la carte menu similarly priced. For a meal out with friends or colleagues I would definitely recommend it.

Five stars from us for Rocket does Red Nose day with Charity Pizza for Comic Relief!
