The Wheel board game arrived in a sturdy cardboard box with paper wrapping inside. The game was safely packed and it is great that all the wrapping could be recycled.
We have various ages in our household ranging from 1 – 74 and The Wheel is a regular for us on a Saturday night. The theme tune is often sung over the dinner table. It was great that we were able to try out the game, which we played with my mum (74), son (16) and my husband and I (40’s).
The board game is well packaged in the box. It is easy to take out and put away. I hate those games that are impossible to get back in the box once you have played with them.

The box contains the infamous wheel, the contestant spinner board, 266 category question cards and 39 end game question cards. There are various question categories including food and drink, pop music, sport, video games and superheroes to name a sample.
The rules sheet provided with the game is very simple to follow with clear picture diagrams. The game can be played by 2 or more players and it is recommended for children from age 10. Some of the questions might be a bit tricky for younger players so I would recommend that younger players form a team with an adult.
The aim of the game is to be the first individual or team to complete their own Wheel by answering one question from each of the categories. The first individual or team to complete their Wheel goes on the end game. If the team answers the question correctly they win, if not the game continues with the other individual or teams.

One of the most iconic parts of the tv program, apart from Michael himself, is the theme tune. The instruction booklet does allow you to download the theme tune so you can play it whilst playing the game. It would however be great if this was included in the mechanism for the game. Although I appreciate this may not be possible.
We are not generally a board game family but we did enjoy spending time together to play this. The game isn’t very techie so my son’s attention span for the basic concept did wain a little after a while. The rules do however provide for a quick play game which is more like the BBC TV show.
For those families who enjoy the BBC tv program I would definitely recommend this game. It would be great to be played on Christmas Day as it is easy and quick to set and can be played by a couple of people or multiple individuals.
The RRP of the game is £27.99. For the basic concept of the game this does seem a little expensive and I am not sure this is good value for money.
Rating: 4/5 – simply due to the cost of the board game.
