The award winning, 4 star Park Royal Hotel has won numerous awards, all thoroughly well earned I would say!

The website was clear and easy to understand and gave me a lot of information prior to my visit.

From the approach from the main road, the hotel looks grand, and it certainly feels like you are entering another world of luxury and relaxation when you step in through the door.

The hotel was easy to find and was just off the M56, although you couldn’t hear the motorway once in the hotel. The gardens were kept tidy and there was ample car parking space. The hotel is right next to a beautiful church; all I could think was it would be an amazing wedding venue! There was an event taking place in the banqueting area and the hotel was bustling with activity whilst people waited to go into their banqueting room, but we were still made to feel welcome and given plenty of time by the staff.

The hotel was clean and tidy; the bedroom itself was spotless. I couldn’t find any fault with the cleanliness of the hotel apart from a few crisp crumbs on the floor in the bar area where we were sat, to be expected when there’s children present. Empty glasses in the bar were cleared quickly and leaflets and signs were displayed effectively throughout the hotel.

The staff were polite and friendly, and each member who I spoke to was extremely helpful and gave detailed information. All staff acted professionally, and served with a smile, making polite conversation and laughing with us – nice to see they were able to engage in conversation. All staff were dressed smartly. One staff member in the restaurant in the evening recognised us from when we checked in and were looking for our room, she asked if we were enjoying our stay and liked our room.

The staff were attentive and intervened when appropriate. For example, they ensured they cleared plates quickly but not rushing us, and also in the Spa, Sammy didn’t talk whilst doing my treatment unless she needed to, allowing me to drift away into relaxation.

The menu for room service was wide and offered a good variety; although we didn’t eat anything from it I noticed some items were 24 hours such as sandwiches, pizzas and toasties. The restaurant and lounge bar offered an extensive choice, from salads, to burgers and steak to vegetarian curry. We didn’t eat in the lounge bar but ate in the Topiary restaurant. I asked to look at the menus whilst we waited in the lounge and the waitress then came and took our order whilst we were in the lounge bar area which I felt was a nice touch.

I requested a table at the side of the room when I booked on line and this request was honoured with waitress even asking if I was happy with the table, which was fine although a little chilly as we were right next to the window, but it wasn’t a major issue.

The food presentation and service was excellent, I had the crab cakes to start and my husband chose garlic bread with cheese. This was after we had our complimentary warm bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar; I had to stop eating so I had room for my main course!

My husband and I both chose steaks which were cooked perfectly. There were good options for side dishes with the main courses and the peppercorn sauce was delicious. My husband had no room for desert, so purely in the interests of the review I chose a sticky toffee pudding, which again was faultless and I forgot to offer my husband a bite as I was enjoying it so much!

My bottle of wine was placed in an ice bucket at the side of the table and the waitresses were attentive to whether my husband required a further beer with his meal.

Breakfast offered a wide selection of hot and cold foods which were constantly being replenished by the staff. We were shown to a table and advised to help ourselves; I like this type of service as I can never decide what to have so I was able to sample everything in small amounts. The tables were cleared quickly and staff were on hand to provide more tea and coffee on request.

The bedroom we were given was nearly as big as my whole house! It had a separate shower and large bath, a dining table, a seating area with two sofas and the bed was huge; three pillows wide, large enough to have a great night’s sleep with a luxury mattress topper and comfortable bedding. We had been offered an upgrade to the Kings Tower Suite, where we were provided with red wine, chocolates, nuts and raisins, plus a free mini bar with beer, wine, coke and water. There was also fresh milk and a tray with tea and coffee and biscuits. We had bath robes, magazines, toiletries in the bath room… need I say more? It was the nicest hotel room I have ever stayed in and would go back tomorrow if I had the chance.

I was offered a spa treatment of my choice and I chose the relaxing back and face ritual; what a great choice. I need to go back now to sample some of the other treatments and with the great deals on packages they had going on, I think I will be returning very soon.

When booking my treatment in advance, Naomi was very helpful and polite, and made me feel very excited about what I was going to find at the spa as she was so professional and passionate about the spa. On arrival, I was offered a drink and a robe and slippers. The spa area was candle lit, a nice temperature, had low lights and music, a perfect environment for spa treatments. Sammy thoroughly explained everything she was going to do, offered me a sensory test for three different parts of my treatment where I could choose which oil/toner I liked the best. She was a complete expert in giving me my treatment and if I won the lottery I think I would be asking her to give me amazing spa treatments like that every day! She ensured she spoke to me about problem areas  before my treatment and concentrated on these specific areas however also ensured she was thorough in everything else she did – during my back massage her hand didn’t leave my back at any point which I was very impressed with.

The changing rooms and pool area were clean and well signposted. The water in the pool was a little cool if anything but this was soon rectified by swimming a few lengths and going in the steam room and sauna. If anything I would say the Jacuzzi needs to be bigger as it was a bit like sardines in a tin when five people were in the Jacuzzi at once!

The overall experience was amazing and I will go back most definitely and I am already planning my return. I have already recommended it to others and I have told all of my friends, colleagues and family how amazing it was. I would recommend it to couples, families, hen parties, mother and daughter time, a getaway with friends… the list is endless. This hotel was a luxury that made me feel a million miles away from reality (although the Sky TV showing football ensured my husband was happy as he could keep up with his favourite team whilst I drifted into another realm!)

This hotel was great value for money, and I spoke to numerous people who had all booked different packages, there were packages to suit every price range.
