40 PUNCH PUBS CELEBRATE BRITISH FOOD WITH MONTH LONG FESTIVAL
More than 40 Punch pubs from across Cornwall and Devon are taking part in a month long pub food festival.
The pubs, which make up the Pub Trail, will follow a different food theme each week in November to celebrate the best of traditional British food.
Kicking off in homage to National Sausage Week between 1st and 5th November, customers can expect an array of delicious dishes from sausage casseroles to toad in the hole as each pub showcases their individual culinary delights.
Between the 7th and 12th November, the pubs will present one of the nation’s popular favourites as part of Pie Week, for example, The Halsetown Inn near St Ives will be launching its home made ‘Pie of the Day’ for just £5. Pie Week will be followed by another traditional dining staple for Pudding Week (between the 14th and 19th November).
Featuring recipes and ingredients that the area is famed for – the festival will finish off with Fish Week from 21st to the 26th November.
Punch business relationship manager Lisa Smart, who helped coordinate all the events, said: “We felt that involving 40 of our pubs from across Cornwall and Devon would be a fantastic opportunity to celebrate what’s great about locally sourced, home grown produce. The pubs, from countryside or coastal, will stamp their own twist on the themed events. Food is a very strong driver for business growth in our pubs and using food grown on the pub’s doorstep is a great selling point for our licensees. Building relationships with regional suppliers and farmers supports the local economy and places the pub at the heart of the community which is where they should be.”
Pubs taking part can be found at www.pubtrail.co.uk which offers information on location, facilities, food and drink, entertainment and reviews.
