I’ll admit I hadn’t heard of the skin care brand Transformulas before I was chosen to review an eye cream this company sell. I received the Flawless Eye Wakeup Serum which on the Transformulas website retails at £42.00 for 17.5 ml.
Trawling through the website, you can see they have a handful of products that look all high end and are all focussed on the face. The company strapline is ‘beauty without surgery’.
The Flawless Eye Wakeup Serum that I have trialled states it is a ‘super concentrated “SOS” rapid recovery serum which revitalises, corrects & prevents signs of aging. They also claim this eye treatment revitalises the eye area, reducing puffiness and dark shadows, softening fine lines, smoothing skin and minimising wrinkles. It is a super powered formula with Hyaluronic Acid and Eyeseryl® targets signs of ageing around the eyes, deeply hydrating, firming and boosting skin elasticity for immediate eye enhancing results. The key ingredient in this formula which helps with the anti-ageing properties is the Eyeseryl® which is a potent Tetrapeptide which helps to reduce the puffiness and drains the fluid in the puffy bags under the eyes. The website also states that this eye serum has been tested in clinical studies and has been noted to show a visible reduction in puffiness and eye-bags with 15 days of use.
Unfortunately, I have only used this eye serum for 6 days so I haven’t been able to give it a long enough shot to fully test any of the above claims but I’m hoping that with continued use I will be able to see the benefits too which for someone who has turned 40 this year is a must!
As I haven’t used the eye serum for long enough to talk about the effectiveness in anti ageing or de-puffing my eye bags, I can talk about what my opinions on the serum are itself.
To date, all the eye serums I have used have been cream based, whereas this one was more of a clear, thin, water-based gel like consistency. It has a slight perfumed smell but this is incredibly faint and so won’t cause any offence to people adverse to smells that trigger migraines (I count myself one of those people) nor should it irritate sensitive skins. This is a very lightweight serum that does have a tacky feeling on application but I tended to pop it on, get dressed and then carry on with my skin care routine and make-up and had no issues with make up application or pilling. Due to the watery feel, it did not feel heavy or feel like it dried my skin out. It was a pleasure to use. It’s perfect for the summer months too as it does feel nice and cooling which is great when you have just washed your face and you feel slightly warmer than usual. The packaging is very high end and looks great in amongst my other skin care products, the bottle feels luxury in your hand too so it does feel like a treatment. Like I say it’s early days for me to test it’s efficacy but if it does brighten, lift and tighten my under eye area, this may definitely be a re-purchase. If not, then pricewise it’s a little bit more costly than I would usually pay for an eye serum.
