If everyone keeps telling you to grow up, you have two options. Reluctantly agree and live a boring life as a “proper adult,” or ignore them and keep doing the things that make that you happy. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy, so remind yourself of how much fun it is to run around like a lunatic, go down slides backwards and splash around in the ball pond. There are now a number of indoor play areas that cater for adult groups, letting you go wild with your friends and relive those treasured childhood memories.

A trip to a soft play adventure centre also makes for a great team bonding session at work or the ideal venue for a stag or hen do, but why wait for a special occasion? There shouldn’t need to be a reason to have fun, even if you are an adult.

There’s no shame in playing with toys at any age, but when you get older you can always use the excuse that it’s actually a collectable action figure. Even if toys aren’t your thing, you can still display your inner fanboy (or fangirl) by purchasing wallets, cufflinks and bottle openers adorned with your favourite TV shows and movies. That way you can make boring adult products a little more fun.

Getting creative

Creativity is greatly encourage in children, but it takes more of a backseat role as we get older. If you want a new outlet in which to express yourself, why not try an adult colouring book?

These are now available in a variety of styles and covering a wide range of topics, from animals to gangsta rap. Not only do colouring books give you an artistic outlet, they have also been shown to provide therapeutic advantages, helping you to reduce anxiety and improve your focus.

The stigma surrounding video gaming as an adult has no almost totally dissipated, meaning you needn’t worry about spending hours in front of your PS4 or Xbox One. In fact, there are now a number of e-sports tournaments that offer prize money to talented gamers. Today, not only are you free to continue your childhood love of video games, it could even turn into a fully-fledged career!

If you’re passionate about something, you should pursue it regardless of whether others think it makes you immature. You cannot put a price on enjoyment, so go out and express yourself – why should kids have all the fun?
