Buckingham Crystal Whisky Glasses From Forever Crystal Review

I like relaxing in the evenings, especially during the Autumn and Winter months, with a good book and a measure or two of bourbon or whisky (who am I kidding? I don’t often use a measure). Because of this, I was delighted when I was presented with the opportunity to review a pair of Buckingham Crystal Whisky glasses from Forever Crystal.

Forever Crystal is a family run business established in 2006. They specialise in personalised and non-personalised glassware items such as beer tankards, decanter sets, gin, prosecco and champagne glasses. They also stock various pieces of stylish homeware such as walnut trays, resin clocks, and hand-crafted bowls.

When they arrived, I was pleased to see that my pair of Buckingham Crystal Whisky Glasses were delivered in extremely safe, but not excessive, packaging.

If you intend to give this set as a gift or a keepsake, you will be delighted to see that they arrive in a lovely black satin lined presentation box. Mine had a Caledonian Crystal Thistle logo on the lid.

As soon as you remove the tumblers from the presentation box, you will appreciate that these are serious, alluring glasses of the highest quality. The items are beautiful, being made from 24% lead crystal. They’re solid and sturdy, weighing 350g, giving them a lovely sensual fee, a natural touch of gravitas. There’s a traditional star design cut into the 1cm thick base. The exterior circumference is decorated with an engraved Caledonian thistle design, giving them a classic, timeless quality.

Each glass has a generous capacity of 320ml (not that you would ever fill them to the brim). The dimensions are height 95mm, a base diameter of 77mm and a rim diameter of 82mm.

There’s only one warning; these glasses are hand wash only. I suspect that repetitive cleaning in a dishwasher would eventually scratch and dull the surfaces of these items, which would be very unfortunate.

I made the traditional cocktail of a Bourbon Old Fashioned in mine. Apart from the lovely drink, the sound the ice made against the glass was a fantastic bonus. Some consider that drinking from a lead crystal glass actually improves the flavour. The jury is out on that one; however, I must admit, my bourbon tasted fabulous, and I’m looking forward to many more (especially over Christmas).

This set would make a beautiful and precious Christmas gift, especially for that hard to buy for friend or relative. However, they’re also ideal for numerous gift-giving occasions. You could even just simply treat yourself.

I’m sure they’re something that will be treasured for many, many years.
