Phoenix by SF Said Review

Reviewed by Louisa Nashir

As soon as I was asked to review Phoenix by SF Said I knew I wanted to read it as it sounded fantastic and something I would really enjoy as I am a fan of science fiction and thrillers.

The book arrived very promptly and well packaged and I got stuck straight in!

The book has an attractive front and back cover with a brief description of the story on the latter but it doesn’t give too much away so keeps you interested.

The story is well thought out and written in a fabulous way meaning both adults and teens can enjoy the story. The characters are all so different and each have a certain uniqueness to them which makes it a real page turner.

The main character is Lucky, a  boy just like any other but this soon changes when he begins dreaming of singing stars and realises he is far from normal and begins a quest which not only brings love but also danger from alien species who wage war on the human race. Lucky soon realises his life is far from ordinary and he realises he needs help to defeat his enemies before mankind are wiped out for ever.

The story is beautiful and really does leave you feeling all sorts of emotions throughout which is the sign of a fabulous piece of work by a very talented author.

I loved the illustrations throughout the book and felt these really captivate the reader’s imaginations whilst reading this stunning tale.

I am not surprised in the slightest that this book was shortlisted for The Guardian Children’s Fiction Award!

Greatly entertaining and will leave you wanting more.
