Peter Pan at Royal & Derngate Northampton Review

7-30 December 2018

Last night we travelled to Northampton to the Royal & Derngate to see Peter Pan. We being my grandson age 6 years, my daughter aged 17 and my daughter in law aged 24. I don’t think any of us have laughed so much for ages.

Right from the top I will advise you to go buy your family some tickets for this flipping flawless Peter Pan pantomime. I am not a massive panto fan I have to say, and thought at least, Peter Pan was a boy style story. This show is for everyone, kids, parents and grandparents. It’s the first time we as a family have belly laughed at the same things. What a fabulous way to spend a few hours on a cold winter’s night, even if we were close enough to get blasted by the water pistols!

I don’t know who to gush about first, probably Darren Day, maybe The Grumbleweeds, nope definitely FLAWLESS! Wowsa, who thought to put them in panto! I wasn’t the only one mesmerised by their dancing, my grandson was following the moves his eyes not leaving the dance troupe who stole the show. Loved, loved, loved Darren Day, what an incredible voice, and so humble, never been to a show and the lead has thanked the Press for coming. To be honest, they all steal the show, I loved everything from start to finish. Millie Davies as Wendy, voice of an angel. The Grumbleweeds stupidly funny. Rachael Wooding as Mimi the Magical Mermaid also a must see. When the four ladies Tinkerbell Mimi Tiger Lily and Wendy sang it sent shivers down my spine.

There was definitely too many standout moments to mention, what a fabulous, fabulous evening we had, thank you so much for having us, it was one of those rare shows that you leave and think I could go straight back in. Get your tickets, you’ll be as hooked as me on this timeless tale.
