There is a lot about Peppersmith that make them stand out from other gum and mint products, they are a UK brand and use 100% plant based natural ingredients, mint from the UK, Sicilian lemons and tomatoes to colour the strawberry mints are some of them. The hero ingredient is Xylital a plant based sweetener found in plants and trees that not only reduces plaque but makes it more difficult for plaque to stick to teeth in the future. All the products are manufactured in Finland, which is known as the home of Xylital, it was through a sugar shortage during World War Two that they turned to Xylital as a sweetener and much later when they discovered the benefits it brought to oral health.

For the purposes of this review I have been sent a taster pack of Peppersmith products which contains

2 x 15g packs of peppermint gum
2 x 15g packs of spearmint gum
2 x 15g packs of peppermint mints
2 x 15g packs of extra strong mints
2 x 15g packs of lemon mints
2 x 15g packs of strawberry pastilles

The packs contain 25 mints or 10 pieces of gum and are a perfect size for keeping in your pocket or bag.
I liked that the pieces of gum didn’t have a sugar coating but still tasted sweet, I was chewing it for a long time and my mouth felt minty fresh for ages afterwards.

The peppermint mints reminded me of a mint imperial but without the hard sugar coating, same with the extra strong ones but as you would expect the mint was stronger, again they leave your mouth feeling super fresh. The lemon mints were quite mild in comparison and the lemon taste was quite subtle but I did like them and they still refreshed my mouth, the strawberry pastilles don’t have any mint at all just a lovely natural hint of strawberry and still refreshing.

The company is keen to be as sustainable as it can and have redesigned the packets to be tamper proof without having a plastic wrap around and all cardboard is recyclable. One tip from me is to have a careful look at the packets before you open them, I opened the first one at the wrong end, on closer examination I saw there was a small lift up tab which revealed a flip top and an easier way to dispense the contents.

A lovely way to try all the flavours, this product won the gold award in “best vegan snack” class at The Veggie awards 2024, all presented in a cardboard box that will fit through your letterbox, gluten free and suitable for vegans, vegetarians and diabetics, it’s so nice to have a sweet snack that’s good for your health and approved by the oral health foundation, they are even sold at some dentists.

Priced at £17.99 and available from https://peppersmith.co.uk/products/taster-pack-12-x-15g-mixed-pocket-packs-2
This pack would make a lovely gift for many occasions including Christmas.

There are boxes with other flavour combinations available on the company’s website Peppersmith.co.uk
