Bong, Bing, Boo, Bing, Bong, Bing, Bingley Bongley Bingley Bongley Boo. Any parent of any average 3 year old is not just reading this but singing along. So you can imagine as a mummy to twin 3 year old boys how excited we all were at the prospect of visiting our favourite piggy and all her friends in our very own New Theatre in Cardiff.
So there I was in the New Theatre children and wellies all ready for an afternoon of jumping up and down in muddy puddles. The New Theatre was awash with little people excitedly awaiting the arrival Peppa, George and friends. A number of souvenirs were available for parents to purchase. They weren’t pushed at parents and were more than sensibly priced for this type of show. So with ‘flashy wandy thing’, as Finn put it, we were all set to meet Peppa.
The entire show is performed by some fantastic artists. I call them that as they sing, dance, act and then on top of all that puppeteer the most fantastic life no animation like characters. The show is littered with the well know songs my boys especially loved singing aloud for all to hear. It told the story Peppa and the wonderful big surprise planned by Mummy and Daddy Pig. Peppa and her friends were in for a fantastic treat that involved buckets spade and a wonderful picnic. Throughout the performance the audience were encouraged to participate in the singing and dancing. Children, Mummy’s and even the odd Daddy were seen tapping a toe or two. The scenery was everything you see on the TV screen and I’m sure it was another of the fabulous things that kept my often very busy boys so encapsulated the entire time. I’ve never seen them so quiet and so focused ever. Toddlers across the audience were completely engaged by the story, the characters, the songs and the participation.
Throughout the performance my sons were truly mesmerised. The performers were outstanding. They really captured the fun and frolics my boys enjoy in every Peppa Pig episode. They may usually only be animated characters but they really were full of life and lit up the stage. My boys loved every second and as a mum I adored seeing the fantastic affect this show had on my children. I’d recommend this show to any parent with Peppa mad toddlers it really is the best. We give this show a fabulous 5 out of 5.
