The UK’s most famous little pink pig is back — and she’s also brought the whole clan with for an exciting, heart warming, and magnificently oinktastic new live adventure! Peppa Pig’s Big Family Show is the most recent theatrical creation by the producers, who have thrilled millions of children across the globe.

Bursting at the seams with bright colours, infectious laughter, catchy songs, and life-size wonders, this fantastic new production includes all our absolute favourite giggles and laughter of the adored TV series while sharing a charming, family-centred tale that is ideal for Peppa supporters of all ages.

From the second the curtain goes up; the vigour is almost tangible. The well-known, pastel-coloured creation of Peppa Pig’s world is beautifully recreated on stage, complete with identical rolling green hills, blue skies, and don’t forget the brilliant muddy puddles! The set design is at once familiar — a living storybook that very well may have leaped straight out of the television and onto the stage. The theatre filled with little voices asking “Where’s Peppa” and then, the audience gasps with delight as Peppa, Mummy Pig, Daddy Pig, and George make their arrival, at once bringing to life the magic and silliness that fans know so well.

The show begins with thrilling news: a new little piggy is soon to make their appearance! With arrangements in full swing, the family house is hectic – more so than ever before. And with all the decorating, building, and tidying, it seems like there is much to do before the special day is here — and it turns out that the family needs a little help from the audience to finish all the chores before little Evie makes her arrival. The interactive part is one of the show’s greatest strengths and what made it a tremendous success for our little one.

The audience – young and old – are encouraged to take part in actions with songs, dancing, and even helping the little piggies make some choices on stage. The end result is a whole package of immediate and lasting fun for the entire audience.

Musically, Peppa Pig’s Big Family Show is pure delight. The lyrics to the songs are catchy, happy, and charged with that hallmark Peppa gusto. The dance numbers and lullabies are all child-friendly, the lyrics are easy to learn and join in with and very much encourages audience participation.

The cast present pleasant performances, portraying each character’s peculiarities thoroughly. Peppa is as sparkling and nosey as ever, George’s sassy chuckles steal the spotlight, Daddy Pig’s adorable awkwardness gets some giggles from the audience, and Mummy Pig is composed, loving poise recreates the familiar family foundation of the story.

The show was on at the Oxford Playhouse earlier this week with ticket prices starting from £14. Oxford Playhouse is a venue worth visiting, situated in Oxford central, we parked at the Parkway Park and Ride (£4 all day) and a free bus took us the short 10 minutes into the town centre. Current congestion daily charge running so please be mindful if you do make your way to Oxford.

We rate this show as 5/5 for little ones – worth a watch if you happen to see it touring in a theatre near you.
