On opening the pack from the Beside the Wave gallery in Cornwall I found a Limited Edition print (only 1 of 50) by Sarah Wimperis – Peacock Feathers and Chinese Silk.
The print arrived is a sturdy box and inside the print was wrapped in acid free tissue. It also came with instructions on how to care for your prints, very easy to read and quite humorous while giving you all the information that you need. It also came with a Certificate of Authenticity signed by the artist.
The print itself is on 310gsm Matt FineArt German Etching Paper – now this means nothing to me but I can tell you that the paper is quite thick and excellent quality. As the print was supplied rolled up I followed the instructions supplied and laid it on a flat surface with some books at each end, after a few hours it was beautifully flat as promised (now I just need to get a frame). The print measures 19” x 13”.
The print is a picture of an interior room with a room with a dresser that holds the peacock feathers. The artist has used some bold and light colours to contrast with the dark dresser and works quite well. The colours look much better on the print than shown in the picture above. It is very well painted with some fine details and the more I look at it the more I’m interested in it. The artist is clearly very talented.
You can see more painting, prints and illustrations by Sarah Wimperis on her website www.sarahwimperis.co.uk, or from the Behind the Wave Gallery in Falmouth, Cornwall www.beside-the-wave.co.uk – where you can also purchase the prints or even an oil on board painting.
From 7-21 February 2014 you can see The Art of Romance exhibition by Anne-Marie Butlin and Sarah Wimperis at the Beside the Wave gallery (8-10 Arwenack Street, Falmouth, Cornwall, TR11 3JA).
Overall, the print is very colourful, good quality and painted by a good artist. I have looked at more of her work of both hers and the gallery’s website and they are all quite interesting. To be honest, when I first received it I wasn’t sure I liked it but it has been painted very well with a good use of colour and detail and will be going on the wall as so as I find a frame that I like.
