Papa Smurf Rocks has 6 episodes about Papa Smurf from the long running animated series.

The Smurfs, led by Papa Smurf who is over 542 years old, live in a forest in Smurf Village with houses made from mushrooms. They are tiny little blue creatures, knee-high to a grasshopper, and are good. They live in the forest with their arch-enemy Gargamel, an evil human wizard, who vows to catch and eat them all.

Papa’s Puppy Prescription – Gargamel casts a spell on a puppy to think he is a cat and Papa Smurf sends a letter for help. But when Papa Smurf falls asleep and a reply to the letter is received the Smurflings, child Smurfs, think he is seriously ill.

Papa’s Family Album – Gargamel steal Mother Nature’s magic wands while Papa Smurf is showing the Smurflings his photo albums to show how other Smurflings have grown up.

Papa’s Last Spell – Gargamel casts a spell to make Papa Smurf lose his magic powers so that he can finally capture the Smurfs.

Papa For A Day – Papa Smurf needs time to work so all the other Smurfs take it in turns being Papa Smurf while trying to build underground storage space but things do not go to plan.

Papa’s Big Snooze – While in Japan Papa Smurf is bitten by a Slumber Bug and the Smurfs have 2 days to find a Bonsai Beetle to bite him to stop him falling into an eternal sleep.

Papa Loses His Patience – The Smurfs are in Spain and Papa Smurf is trying to assemble his crystals to get them home but Brainy Smurf makes Papa lose his patience and they have to try and get it back.

Overall, I love the Smurfs. I used to watch them as a child and still love them today. They stories are great always about good versus evil and moral values.

A great DVD for adults who remember the Smurfs but will also appeal to children as easy to watch, brightly coloured animation and some humour and scares thrown in. And with an RRP of only £5.99 is excellent value.

Rating: 5/5
