I absolutely love the brand Orchard Toys. The quality is excellent, and their games are clearly well thought out when it comes to children’s cognitive development and gameplay. I was really excited to try this game, and it didn’t disappoint, we had lots of fun.
Combining fun and learning, this game helps to develop and support literacy skills, making it ideal for young children who are learning to recognise letters and sounds. Through play, it also encourages important social skills, which can be particularly helpful when starting school.
As always, the quality and design are exceptional. The box is strong and sturdy, and the game pieces are of equally high quality. The cards are thick and durable, making them perfect for little hands. The illustrations are bright, cheerful and very clear, which makes them excellent for engaging children during gameplay. Most of the objects featured are familiar to children and can easily be linked to the corresponding letter of the alphabet.
It is an easy-to-understand game, which children can grasp quickly. Each player is given a bingo board showing letters of the alphabet. Players take turns to draw cards from the deck, matching each image to the correct starting letter on their board. It’s a fantastic way to teach and engage children while they learn and have fun.
Cognitive learning is very important when it comes to interactive play and there is so much that can be learnt through playing with this game. Beyond matching cards to letters, the cards can also be used as flashcards. Children can be encouraged to say the letter name and its sound, or to think of additional words that begin with the same letter.
The game also encourages developmental skills such as listening, concentration and taking turns. These are developed in a fun and engaging way and can be adapted, as mentioned above, for one-to-one play or small groups. The box is strong and sturdy, making it perfect for storing all the pieces quickly and easily. Its compact size means it doesn’t take up much room when stored and makes it ideal for travelling
As always, Orchard Toys never disappoint. This game is excellent value for the price alone, let alone the multitude of uses alongside the bingo game play itself. Combined with its durability, it is worth every penny. Whether for your own child or as a gift for someone else, you won’t be disappointed. Looking for the perfect present for a little one?
