AS ONE MAN, TWO GUVNORS TRIUMPHS ON BROADWAY OVER 100,000 NEW TICKETS RELEASED FOR FIVE STAR WEST END PRODUCTION
Today, 20 May 2012, the National Theatre’s award-winning production of One Man, Two Guvnors releases over 100, 000 new tickets for sale in the West End, taking bookings at the Theatre Royal Haymarket to 12 January 2013. Earlier this weekRichard Bean’s award-wining adaptation, based on Carlo Goldoni’s The Servant of Two Masters, triumphed on Broadway in Nicholas Hytner’s five star production.
The current London cast of One Man, Two Guvnors is led byOwain Arthur who plays lovable chancer Francis Henshall. He is joined by Jodie Prenger and Hannah Spearritt who play Dolly and Pauline respectively. Martin Barrass plays Alfie with David Benson as Gareth, Nigel Betts as Harry, Derek Elroy as Lloyd, Gerard Horanas Charlie, Daniel Ings as Alan, Ben Mansfield as Stanleyand Gemma Whelan as Rachel.
With songs by Grant Olding, One Man, Two Guvnors’ physical comedy director is Cal McCrystal, designs are by Mark Thompson, with lighting by Mark Henderson, sound design by Paul Arditti, fight direction by Kate Waters and choreography by Adam Penford.
Fired from his skiffle band, Francis Henshall becomes minder to Roscoe Crabbe… but Roscoe is really Rachel, posing as her own dead brother… who’s been killed by her boyfriend Stanley Stubbers. Francis spots the chance of an extra meal ticket and take a job with one Stanley Stubbers. To prevent discovery Francis must keep his two guvnors apart. Simple.
One Man, Two Guvnors opened at the National Theatre in May 2011. In November last year, after a UK tour, the show opened in the West End at the Adelphi Theatre where it completed a sell out run. A Broadway production of One Man, Two Guvnors continues at the Music Box Theatre.
