I love using a good quality soap so was very pleased to be asked to try this lavender cleansing bar. This bar comes in a recyclable cardboard box. When I first saw the packaging I thought this looks like the type of product you see in the pharmacies of Europe but it is in fact made in the UK. The size of the soap bar is 100g and advertised as gentle and non drying. It is suitable for all skin types including sensitive. It contains no artificial ingredients, tree nut oils, wheat, soy or dairy. The pack also shows the organic soil association and cruelty free symbols. The strap line along the top of the box states “body” but it does say on another part of the box that it is suitable for face and body.
Looking at the ingredient list, these are all organic and include English saponified virgin olive oil, coconut oil and lavender essential oil. Taking the soap out of the box it looked like a home made bar of soap, just like those I have seen at markets in France and the smell was like smelling fresh lavender in the garden, not over powering or artificial at all.
Then of course the best test, how was it to use ? I tried it in the shower, the size of this bar was perfect to hold and I didn’t drop it once . I didn’t get a lot of lather but it glided over my skin very easily and left a fine hydrating oil sheen on my skin, I can often get dry patches of skin after a shower but didn’t after using this bar, I must add that the second time I tried it I used it with a scrunchie and did get a nice lather that way.
My only disappointment was that the lavender fragrance didn’t last on my skin and I couldn’t smell it once I’d got out of the shower. It has long been believed that lavender can help promote calmness and is also said to help reduce stress and anxiety, I have also used it to help with sleeping, l found that using this soap in the evening did make me more relaxed and ready for sleep.
