Now That’s What I Call Music 86
Reviewed by Erica Bourn
I grew up in the 80's and can vividly remember the sense of excitement I used to feel when I got the latest "Now" compilation album, (though they were vinyl and good old cassette tape in my day!). It’s now lovely seeing history being repeating with my own children, with the latest offering "Now That’s What I Call Music 86".
Opening with the massive success that is Katy Perry's 'Roar', the album delivers hit after hit, which sees my nearly 7 year old and 18 month twins bopping round like mad things.
OneRepublic, Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga and Jessie J all make appearances as well as hit boybands One Direction, Lawson and The Wanted. There is a great mix though, with the selection also including tracks from Ellie Goulding and Lily Allen, (tissues at the ready for the must have track of the season from the John Lewis Christmas advert), to The Vamps and Martin Garrix.
My son really has only quite recently started developing his own musical taste, and the "Now" compilations are fantastic to help whet his appetite for music and explore a variety of artists, (though is fair to say some tracks get played more by him than others… think I could recite Katy Perry's 'Roar' and One Directions 'Best Song Ever' without issue).
The collection offers fantastic value for money and I'm sure would be a great addition to any music lovers stocking this Christmas. Buy it, your kids will love for it, and I challenge you not to be singing away too!
