New Spring Menu at Brewers Fayre Carrerick Garrison Review

Reviewed by Julie Jessup

I was lucky enough to be picked to review the new Spring Menu for Brewers Fayre at Catterick Garrison, North Yorkshire.

I need a disabled parking space and I was able to park outside the venue. There are also plenty of parking spaces available. Brewers Fayre is situated within a very new small shopping complex. So everything is very clean and tidy.

I went with a friend and we were met by very pleasant and smart staff, who showed us to the area the tasting was going to be.

Our drink order was taken straight away and served immediately.

The food was in the form of a buffet style. Firstly we tried two starters, fried chicken wings with a piri piri dipping sauce, the chicken was lovely but the sauce was very hot for me and I needed another drink straight after this.

BFTaster

Next I tried crispy potato dippers, loaded with bacon, mozzarella, cheddar cheese and spring onion served with a side dip of sour cream, this looked amazing and sounded very tasty, but I have to say it was very bland and lacked in taste, I feel it needed some kind of herbs added to it.

Then we tried samples of main meals. Firstly I tried Mexican Beef chilli with pinto beans, this was served with rice and tortilla chips, this was my least favourite, I felt there was no taste at all to it.

Then I tried pepper, squash and feta cheese tart, this was a shortcrust pastry made with cheese and paprika, filled with red pepper, butternut squash, spinach and feta cheese, I would have never chosen this from the menu as I am not a lover of pastry, however this was absolutely delicious and I would have it again. Another tasty main meal was the garlic chicken and chips, the chicken was beautifully cooked with a hint of garlic, very nice indeed. My favourite of them all was the beef, mushroom and cheese burger, you could taste the superior taste of the beef the cheese and mushroom added an extra little taste, which finished off the burger to a very high standard, it was extremely pleasing to the pallet.

BFDesert

Then it was dessert time, after all these tasters we could still fit in puddings and they did not disappoint. We tried the tasty banoffee pie a biscuit base topped with fresh banana slices and drizzled with caramel sauce which was gorgeous but the best was yet to come and that was the dirty mud pie, a crunchy chocolate biscuit base, covered with chocolate brownie, smothered with a layer of creamy chocolate, topped with chocolate fudge sauce topped with white chocolate shaving, on the top was a crumbled flake with chocolate flavour sauce, this really is a chocoholics dream and just typing this up makes me want to go back to Brewers and get one. My friend had another piece.

Overall I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the new Spring Menu and will certainly be going back for more.
