Mystic City by Theo Lawrence Review

Reviewed by Louisa Nashir

Once I started to read this futuristic and fast paced book I found it extremely difficult to put down. In fact it took just under 2 days to read!

The story starts with Aria Rose the daughter of one of the most powerful families the Rose’s and her relationship with Thomas her fiancé. Thomas is the son of another powerful family who have joined forces with the Rose family to take complete control of the city.

Aria feels nothing for Thomas and her parents and family blame an overdose she took. She is treated regularly by her family’s doctor but even with his help her memory loss towards Thomas remains.

She soon meets a handsome stranger called Hunter and his friend Turk, unbeknown to Aria at first both men are Mystics.

Aria’s family hate mystics and carry out regular drainings of them to take their power for their own personal use.

With the help of her servant, the boys and her father’s trusted sidekick Benedict Aria learns the shocking fact that her own family have abuses their position by wiping her memory.

Aria was in love with Hunter but it brought shame on her family and her parents made the disgusting move to erase all Aria knows.

The reason for this was the head of the mystics and Arias father were going head to head in an election and it would of looked bad for the pair to be together.

Aria soon realises the true extent of her parent’s feelings towards mystics and fights against her own.

The fight scene in the book is graphic and mesmerising and had me hooked! Each twist and turn took my breath away and the story kept me guessing until the very end.

A truly enjoyable book.
