My Epic Life Word Book by Mrs Wordsmith Review

1000 words every child needs to know

Reviewed by Debbie Talbot

My twins are both little book worms, so I snapped up the opportunity of reviewing a copy of My Epic Life Word Book – 1000 words every child needs to know, from Mrs Wordsmith.

The book looks very appealing in its mid blue colour. On the front cover of the book are some funny looking characters, illustrated to a very high standard. The back cover of the book gives a good preview into what you can find inside the book. The book aims to help children with many important life lessons such as counting, shapes and measurements, hygiene, outdoor adventures, arts and crafts, social skills and emotional awareness. As a parent who actively seeks out tools to help my children with their development, learning, social skills, emotional awareness etc. I think this book is an excellent idea.

My twins could not wait to explore what this exciting looking book had to offer. Upon opening the cover there are the words ‘This book belongs to:’ Here your child can write their name as owner of the book. A few pages in we are given more information about the way the book can be used. This book is aimed at both confident readers and non-readers/less confident readers. One of my twins requires more support when reading than the other, but this book is perfect for them with mummy on hand for the more challenging words. There is even a handy page of the book showing you the layout of each page.

We had great fun looking through the various pages of My Epic Life Word Book, with lots of giggles and smiles from adults and children alike. The book has some really important themes, such as that it is ok to be different and that your child was born to make a difference. It encourages a healthy lifestyle. I think that anything which encourages children to have aspirations in life is a huge plus. I particularly loved the way the book describes friends as ‘People who get along well and love each other.’ The book gives out such a positive overall message. The illustrations are bright and exciting, and the characters are funny yet adorable. The descriptions are clear enough for children to understand. I particularly like the way the book handles feelings, children being able to express their feelings is so important in life.

The book itself is hard backed and is made from good quality, thick paper for the pages. It’s clearly made to last. Learning is not limited to the book either. You can scan the QR code on your mobile or tablet device and watch the video of the Epic World Adventure new mobile game.

I would whole heartedly recommend this book to others. It would make a fantastic gift and in my view it’s something which children will look at again and again. I will be checking out the other books available from Mrs A wonderful book which helps make precious family memories.
