Misterwives Our Own House Review

Our Own House

Our Own House is the long awaited album release from American indie pop band Misterwives. After their debut EP, Reflections, was released in 2014 and the title track went on to receive iTunes’ free Single of the Week, the band themselves became MTV’s ‘Artist to Watch’ as well as topping the Billboard ‘Emerging Artist’ chart. Fans have since been avidly waiting for the release of the new album which is due to be released both here in the UK and in the US on the 23 February on Virgin/EMI records.
For me Our Own House is an unusual album in that it has no weak tracks, each track has credibility in its own right all perfectly set off by the exceptional vocals of front woman Mandy Lee. Beautifully backed by Etienne Bowler – drums, Will Hehir – bass, Mac Campbell – Guitar and Jesse Blum – Keyboards/trumpet/ accordion. My personal stand out tracks are the title track, Our Own House which has fantastic feel good factor and Best I Can Do which is upbeat Indie pop at its best. By no means are these they only tracks that excel on the album but just my personal favourites.
The reggae tones of Oceans bring a different beat to the album and fellow sunny tracks Box in the Sun and Vagabond are deliciously compelling. The anthem track of the album is Hurricane which after only one listen resonates inside your head with its memorable chorus.
Having listened to this album several times now I can see why their music has had over 20 million streams to date. It’s engaging, heartening and delightfully produced with each track telling its own story. The musicians are remarkably talented and play as though they have been together since time began.
If you have not heard of Misterwives before I recommend you buy Our Own House and see what you have been missing. I guarantee you won’t regret it.
Highly recommended.
