This was our first visit to a Miller & Carter Steakhouse and I was extremely impressed. The Parbold Steakhouse is perfectly situated on top of Parbold Hill, Wigan with some lovely views of the quiet rural countryside in the distance and you can even see Blackpool Tower. We had booked a table for two for the Monday evening.

On arrival, we noticed how lovely the decor is especially the log fire in the middle of the room which is a nice touch, and would be so warming in winter. As we walked through, we were kindly greeted by the manager Mike who was very polite, well-spoken and friendly, he made us feel welcome and very comfortable. On our way to our seats we had a brief tour of the restaurant, there are different areas for enjoying your meal, quiet and romantic at the window with lovely views or sat outside enjoying the summer breeze. They also have an area you can use for private parties and a bar area.

Once seated at our table we enjoyed some mouthwatering cocktails from their new drinks menu (they all looked and tasted fantastic and I honestly didn’t have a favourite because they were all out of this world) while we looked at the menu before ordering our meal. We had the shared Garlic Bread with melted English Cheddar to start with which was yummy! Not your average restaurant stuff – homemade thick cuts of bread smothered with bubbling cheese. The waitress we had was a lovely lady called Karen who was very knowledgeable and provided us with an excellent service throughout the evening. The menu had a good choice of steaks along with a few other options including Chicken, Gammon and Lamb but we both opted for steak. With Karen’s advice I selected the 8oz Fillet Steak medium, my partner had the 12oz Sirloin steak blue as he likes it. Both were cooked to perfection. The main course is served with a wedge of lettuce with dressings of your choice, I had garlic and chive mayonnaise with parmesan, tasty enough, if not a little boring, maybe they could come up with something a little more adventurous?  The seasoned chips, served in a side bowl were very nice and a perfect touch. You also get a slice of onion loaf, again delicious. You pick what steak sauce you would like, we had Bordelaise sauce and Mushroom Chasseur unlike other restaurants when you get a drizzle in a tiny bowl to cover your steak and your left wanting more here you get the perfect amount and its beyond tasty! ?

For desert I decided upon a white chocolate box for me which was well presented and absolutely scrumptious, whilst my partner had a Latte to drink.

We would go back again and we have recommended this steakhouse to family and friends as the food we ate is the best we have had out in a very long time and the fillet steak was the nicest I have ever tasted.

We found the restaurant staff very good and attentive to our needs. The service was excellent with enough time between courses such that we never felt rushed and there was no pressure to vacate the table. Food was of a very good quality, Karen took the time to tell us that they have their own farmer who rears for them locally.Prices are very reasonable for both food and drinks. All in all, we had a really enjoyable evening and I would have no hesitation in visiting again.

You will probably have to book in order to ensure a table and if not be prepared for a worth the while wait as it very popular.

Rating: 5/5 thumbs_up
