I have been a fan of Melissa and Doug products for years because I think that their products are fantastic quality, very well thought out and offer so much to children learning and development wise. I was therefore over the moon to have the opportunity of reviewing the Melissa and Doug Suspend game. I can struggle to find activities that keep my children interested, but with my knowledge of other Melissa and Doug products I didn’t think that would be the case with this Suspend Game. Both of my twins particularly love construction toys and seem to find them both challenging and exciting. Many of their construction toys are quite bulky and therefore not too portable. Not this toy!
It arrived around the time of my twin sons 9th birthday and made a perfect birthday gift. I was happy to see that the item arrived well packaged and therefore in perfect condition, but not with excessive packaging. The toy comes in a handy plastic tube with contains useful instructions. One of my twins decided to play the game with his big sister (now 16). Both had so much fun trying to hang the metal pieces from each other without the construction toppling. This game held my childrens’ interest well and was amusing to both play and watch. One of my twins and my daughter L played several rounds of the game.
As with all of the Melissa and Doug products I have come across, the pieces of the game were of excellent quality and I can see this toy lasting for many years. The tube itself is small enough that I think it would be easy to take along on outings or perhaps even family holidays. It wouldn’t take up much space in the car/luggage at all. Maybe it is something which you could buy and take along on your next family camping or glamping trip?
I can see this toy being great for fine motor skills, coordination and problem solving skills. As a parent I particularly love toys which give children the opportunity of learning through play.
Whilst I didn’t play this game myself, I expect I probably will in the future. I think that I would really enjoy it and can see it being played by adults in an evening perhaps once the children are tucked up in bed.
I think that the £14.99 RRP represents good value because of the quality of the toy itself and its educational value. It’s price point makes it affordable as a birthday party gift for a child.
I think that the Melissa and Doug Suspend game would make an excellent ‘just because’ or Christmas gift idea. I would recommend this toy as well as Melissa and Doug products as a whole. You can also find reviews of several other Melissa and Doug products WGTD reviewers have reviewed here.
