My daughter and myself have just returned from a wonderful evening, watching ‘Mad About the Musicals’ 10th Anniversary at The Grove Theatre Dunstable, starring the lovely Gareth Gates and Michael Courtney.
It’s always a pleasure to go to the Grove, it’s a small but beautiful theatre. It’s easy to get to from where we live, and parking is always so hassle free. There are always plenty of spaces in the car park situated behind.
The theatre has a nice open entrance, it’s always clean and tidy and there is always a warm inviting atmosphere. As we made our way to collect our tickets, we were greeted by a friendly lady at the reception desk. She handed us our tickets and we then made our way to the bar for some refreshments. The theatre was busy, but it didn’t stop us from getting served promptly.
We then headed towards our seats, and were shown by a polite young man, where we were sitting. Our seats were in row F, they were very comfortable and our view of the stage was great.
The show began right on time, the curtain went up. And there on stage was the very talented pop star, Gareth Gates. I’ve been a fan of Gareth Gates, since his Pop Idol days back in 2001, so I was very excited to see him perform and boy I wasn’t disappointed. Gareth was then joined on stage, by singer Michael Courtney. Michael is not only a talented singer, but he also produced and directed the Mad About Musical tours. Their vocals were superb and the chemistry between them both was a real joy to watch.
They performed music from some much loved West End and Broadway musicals, including classics from Miss Saigon, We Will Rock You, Starlight Express, Les Miserables and the stunning Phantom of the Opera. They had the whole audience gripped. Gareth and Michael were also supported by three talented ladies, who equally sang and danced brilliantly. There was a live band on stage, big bright lights, and lots of costumes changes. We were totally blown away. We didn’t know all of the songs performed, as some dated back to the 1930’s, but it didn’t stop us enjoying the show. We could of easily of been watching a show in the West End.
I would highly recommend going and would see it again in a heartbeat.
