A little treat at Cheshire Oaks shopping outlet was had today, with bit of shopping and a well-deserved extended lunch break. I was booked for lunch at 1.30, but turned up a few minutes early, flagging from the shopping. It wasn’t difficult to find Café Rouge at Cheshire Oaks, the parking is easy and its right next to parking area A and some fairly desirable shops. Despite being early the staff were extremely pleasant and accommodating, seating my friend and I almost immediately. The front of the restaurant was welcoming and the window well-presented and inviting. We were shown to our table within a bank of tables for two with leather seating along the back.
The atmosphere in the restaurant was good and everyone appeared to be having a lovely time, the waitress was polite, chatty and made recommendations from the menu for each course and wine accompaniment if required. This was by far one of the best café rouge experiences I have had in a long time, the interior was newly and pleasantly decorated and certainly provided seemed to provide the ambiance it was aiming to, with quite an upmarket feel, whilst having something within everyone’s budget on the menu.
Our meal started with olives and breads to dip in olive oil and balsamic, these were presented nicely and were pretty tasty too, we weren’t rushed through the entre, which is great, as when you’re intending to have dessert, I like to be able to feel like I can fit it in after the main course. The following course was presented well and the seabass was lovely, well cooked and in a very tasty bisque, I couldn’t fault it and would certainly order it again, I ordered salad to accompany the Seabass, as unfortunately it doesn’t come with any salad, vegetables or potatoes of any kind.
My companion ordered the recommended chicken, Poulet Breton, this does come as a full main course and rich and very tasty, which was accompanied nicely by the recommended wine, Viognier. Following the mains, the waitress again recommended desserts and we ordered the lemon tarte and chocolate fondant, both were presented nicely and were tasty.
Before leaving the restaurant I checked out the facilities, which were nicely decorated and perfectly clean. A lovely lunch, in a lovely restaurant with great staff.
