Loop cashmere is a new company to me, this is the first time I’ve tried their clothes. I was interested in their clothing because of their high ethical standards both in terms of environmental impact and human impact. I don’t buy many clothes as I’m conscious of making responsible choices but what I do buy is kept for a long time. The yarn is certified with the Good Cashmere Standard which promotes sustainability in cashmere production. All the clothes are made in small batches in Mongolia and considerate choices have been made at all stages of the process from yarn to delivery. There is an excellent sustainability section on the Loop website explaining this all in detail.
The first item out of my beautiful Loop cashmere box was a pair of cashmere socks in ‘snow’ which is a creamy white. These are the cosiest, softest socks I’ve ever had. Normally I find cashmere socks tend to fall off but the Loop cashmere socks have 5% elastane and so far they haven’t fallen off once. The ribbing is attractive and obviously very effective as they stay put nicely on your feet. They feel luxurious and I’ve been changing into them in the evenings so I can fully immerse myself in the comfort of them. Being a natural fibre, cashmere is very breathable and perfect for maintaining healthy feet. The socks are machine washable which is important as you do tend to wash socks after every wear.
I also have the cashmere fringe sweater in ‘snow’ which is simple and timeless, I can’t describe how lovely this is in real life, it was much nicer than the picture and I was already expecting it to be a beauty. The crew neck sits very neatly and the ribbing doesn’t sag or stretch when I’m wearing it. The fringe detail along the sleeves and front is both modern and yet unobtrusive. I’ve worn it with trousers and a skirt, It also looked nice when I tried it with jeans so it is quite a versatile piece of clothing. I imagine I’ll have this jumper for a very long time, possibly forever. My daughter is already asking if I’ll still have it by the time she grows into it and I think she’ll be in luck. It feels luxurious and yet wearable. Like everyone, I’m spending a lot more time at home at the moment and one huge positive of that is that I get to wear comfortable cosy clothes. This sweater is super comfortable but it doesn’t look like loungewear and so it does just lift your mood a little.
I haven’t washed my sweater yet but the recommendation is to use a cashmere specific detergent and to hand wash. Cashmere does take a little more effort to care for as it’s a natural fibre but it is so much lovelier than a synthetic.
If there’s anything that can improve spending time at home it’s a delivery from Loop cashmere. The items were beautifully packaged and the customer service was both efficient and very helpful. Next day delivery is free over £50, as are returns which are tracked and very easy to do. Returns are open for 365 days which is perfect for me and very reassuring. The packaging was plastic free and completely recycled as well as being 95% recyclable or compostable itself.
Both the fringe sweater and the socks are currently in the sale and would make the perfect lockdown valentines gift for a woman of any age. I absolutely love mine.
RRP: socks £59, sweater £279
