The EDF Energy London Eye calls on Halloween-goers to help the Wickedest Witch

London, October 2011:This Halloween, London’s most iconic landmark, the London Eye will be helping Wilhelmina – Halloween’s Wickedest Witch – regain her powers and we need your help.

Wilhelmina has had so much time off for bad behaviour, she’s completely forgotten how to be wicked, something which can’t be reversed on her own. From Saturday 22nd October to Monday 31st October Wilhelmina will be relying on children from across the UK to help re-ignite her powers by chanting magical spells on the London Eye’s 30 minute Halloween Storytelling Experience. Children and adults alike can enjoy the spooky panoramic views of London’s haunted landscape over Halloween and half term.

Halloween needs the Wickedest Witch so be sure to bring the whole family to the South Bank to help Wilhelmina restore her powers.

That’s not all for guests to the EDF Energy London Eye this October. Visitors can also take a trip on the London Eye River Cruise where haunting tales of the South Bank will be told on the 40-minute journey where families will learn the history of the mysterious River Thames and hear the tales of the river and marvel at the riverside landmarks.

With every ticket purchased for either the Halloween Storytelling Experience or the London Eye River Cruise customers will receive free entry to the EDF Energy London Eye 4D Experience. The 3 minute film showcases the first ever 3D aerial photography film over London, as well as exciting the senses with live effects such as wind, snow and bubbles, for a truly four dimensional experience.

EDF Energy is one of the UK’s largest energy companies and the largest producer of low-carbon electricity, producing around one-fifth of the nation's electricity from its nuclear, coal and gas power stations, as well as combined heat and power plants and wind farms. The company supplies gas and electricity to more than 5.5 million business and residential customers and is the biggest supplier of electricity by volume in the UK.

EDF Energy’s safe and secure operation of its eight existing nuclear power stations at sites across the country makes it the UK’s largest generator of low carbon electricity. EDF Energy is also leading the UK's nuclear renaissance and has published plans to build four new nuclear plants, subject to the right investment framework. These new plants could generate enough low carbon electricity for about 40% of Britain’s homes. They would make an important contribution to the UK’s future needs for clean, secure and affordable energy. The project is already creating business and job opportunities for British companies and workers.

Through Our Sustainability Commitments, EDF Energy has launched one of the biggest environmental and social programmes of any British energy company. EDF is the official energy utilities partner and sustainability partner of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The company is also helping its customers and others use energy more sustainably through products and initiatives such as Team Green Britain, smart meters and electric vehicle research.

EDF Energy is part of EDF Group, one of Europe’s largest power companies. The company employs around 15,000 people at locations across the UK.
