I don’t know about you but getting my girls to write and then stick to a Christmas present list is somewhat of a challenge! They’re at an age (5 & 7) where quantity of presents is key; one big gift just wouldn’t work – and that’s where products like the LOL Surprise MINI Family Collection are a God send!
Each LOL Surprise OMG Mini Family Collection ‘ball’ celebrates each OMG fashion doll, their Lil Sis, and their pet, in miniature form. If you have a LOL doll fan, they’ll see that each mini toy is an exact replica of their big doll, including their signature fierce looks. We’ve been reviewing the Winter Family, Series 2 of the LOL surprise range.
Recommended for ages 4+, my youngest in particular loves opening up the ball and playing a make believe game with the dolls found inside.
Surprise toys, where kids are never quite sure what they’re going to get have huge appeal; they add an element of eager anticipation to receiving a gift; my kids couldn’t wait to tear off the packaging and discover the ball’s contents. These LOL toys make a great stocking filler – they’re just the size for stuffing in ‘socks’ and of a price where you can buy a few things to go with them. They’re also a perfectly priced gift (RRP £11) for wrapping up when the girls head off to a friend’s party.
The ‘ball’ may just look like a round bit of plastic but open it up and it becomes a playset, a multi-room ‘home’ for the miniature dolls. This winter edition of the LOL Surprise ball features a chalet, ski lift and a winter wonderland. The fact that kids have to open up individual bags once they’re inside the ball, adds another level of excitement. The girls were loving it. Me, I did start to question the packaging’s friendliness to the environment, but my conscience was distracted by the smiles on their little faces!
There are 12 OMG replica mini dolls (and accompanying Lil Sis and pets) to collect, each with their own signature accessory. The idea is that you collect all 12 and create your own miniature LOL Surprise OMG world. And this is where I come unstuck. I don’t mind paying the £11 for something that they’ll enjoy unwrapping and playing with BUT do I risk another £11 only for them to discover the same doll and have a tear-stained face guilt me into spending another £11? And so it goes on. I’m not always up for the gamble (and dread the disappointment). For me, they’re a one-off treat per collection (which kind of defeats the point) but they are fun and if YouTube’s anything to go off, it’s all about the unboxing!
