License to Drive is an eighties (1988) teen comedy classic starring Corey Feldman and Corey Haim (both from The Lost Boys).
Les (Corey Haim) is studying for his driver’s exam but after failing asleep during the course he inevitably fails his test. He lies to his family or friends and leads them to believe that he has passed until they find the failed test result.
After getting a date with the girl of his dreams, Mercedes (Heather Graham), he steals his grandfather’s immaculate Cadillac to drive over and pick her up. This is the start of a series of events with disastrous consequences: his car gets towed and then Mercedes gets drunk and dances on the bonnet wearing heels. She then passes out in the car turning his dream date into a nightmare.
He calls his friend Dean (Corey Feldman) for help fixing the car and things just get worse. The car gets stolen by a drunk driver so they then take his car and a car chase follows turning his grandfather’s 16 old year Cadillac, with only 20,000 miles on the clock, into a wreck.
Overall, License to Drive is a good teen comedy about a boy trying to impress his date. Very easy to watch and enjoyable.
