Toby and the Ice Giants by Joe Lillington Review

Reviewed by Julie Hunkin

I read the book to my sons who are 1 and 5.

I enjoyed the story but found it a little difficult to read as the story was in speech bubbles all over the page and it was difficult to know which order to read them in. I really liked the facts about the animals on the side of the page, I thought that was a different touch.

The quality of the book was of a high standard and felt very expensive, it would make a lovely gift for a child. It arrived very quickly and was packaged nicely and was well protected.

The one year old was engaged but kept trying to turn the pages which is to be expected.

The 5 year old really enjoyed the story and especially enjoyed learning about the animals from the sides of the pages. I asked him if he could change one thing about the book what would it be and he said there weren’t many colours. I have to say I agreed with him as it was very brown due to the colour of the mammoths fur, which is to be expected I suppose but perhaps more bright background colours.

Overall it was a good book and I would recommend it, although I thought it was slightly high for the RRP.
