Utilising Tech In Your Life

The effect that technology has had on our society is incalculable. It has improved so many different aspects of our lives that once you start looking for them, you will notice them everywhere. One of the most obvious and seemingly ubiquitous is smartphones. They are so popular because they are so useful. They can help you get a ride late at night, set you up on a date, allow you to watch a movie or do something cool like learn a language. They are good for your health too, with apps that can tell you your heartbeat or let you track your calorie intake so you can keep it down if you want, or raise it if that is what you need. Lots of people already know about the great things that smartphones can do for you. However, there is so much more exciting tech out there that you may not have heard of. The rationale behind technology as it intersects with the capitalist market is that the things that serve a useful purpose or help solve a problem are going to become popular and profitable, while the tech that can sometimes seem rather superficial or superfluous will not capture the public’s imagination in quite the same way. With this in mind, here is some tech that you may find useful in your life:

The first thing to be aware of is that being able to use technology is a marketable skill. Nearly every job today requires some sort of interaction with a computer. If you are not as literate as you could be in the ways that computers work, you should spend some time and money improving that part of your skill set. You could do Powerpoint training, for instance, to help you impress prospective clients at work, or take a class in Excel so you can thoroughly organise your accounts and have a better grasp on your personal finances. If you are more adventurous and willing to learn, you could teach yourself a variety of coding languages like Java or Python and start making your own apps.

However, there are lots of cool gadgets that you can invest in too. In fact, the popularity of connectable devices communicating with each to create a unified and simple way to control all sorts of aspects of your life has become known as the ‘internet of things’. Amongst the cool devices that you can get are the so-called smart security systems. If you are concerned about the safety of your house while you are out at work, you can now get motion sensors that will send a notification to your phone as soon as they detect something near your home. You can also get cameras that will stream a 24-hour HD video to your phone so that you can see what is going on wherever you are in the world.

The tech that you get for your home does not just need to be so practical though. If you invest in a system like Amazon’s Echo or Google’s Home, you can talk to the device and do all sorts of things just using your voice. If you want to listen to a particular song, just ask for it to be played and you will hear it.
