Milton Keynes Theatre in central Milton Keynes is a great venue for a variety of entertainment, be it live music, plays or musical theatre you won’t be disappointed with the venue in any way. It has a variety of bars and boasts its own restaurant for your pre meal food. The venue staff are always incredibly helpful and always happy to help with any queries or questions.
We were super excited to see this show, massive fans of the film featuring Reese Witherspoon the massive Hollywood star, we knew the story before seeing the show and were really interested to see how this would play out on the stage as a musical.
There is absolutely no doubt that Amber Davies who plays the central character Elle Woods is a show stopping superstar who not only has a superb voice but dances like no one else I have seen on stage for a while. For such a small person she has a huge stage presence.
The show for me is mean girls meets Harvard, it’s an explosion of colour and singing and dancing right from the opening. The outfits for Elle’s friends are a stunning array of bright colours coordinated and matching from top to bottom. The set is minimal but works throughout the show. All of the cast are outstanding. The coordinated dances are sharp and modern. This is for sure a show that will appeal to the younger generation.
Essentially a love story with central characters Elle Woods played by Amber Davies and Warner played by Jamie Chatterton the story plays out from college to Harvard Law School. Everyone is outstanding, but Paulette played by Karen Mavundukure is just sensational, what an incredible voice this lady has.
Legally Blonde is all singing all dancing, and to be honest the first half was full on, I wasn’t sure at all, but the second half I was completely drawn into the story and the characters and was team Elle all the way. The snap and bend made us laugh out loud.
It’s not often a musical has so many outstanding and exceptional singers, Legally Blonde is certainly a blockbuster. We can’t not mention the dogs, almost stars of the show, who carried off their roles impeccably. If you enjoy a show full of singing, dancing and great costumes, this is the one for you, every single person on stage tonight was brilliant. To be fair, most of us women in the audience would give anything to have the wardrobe of Elle Woods, the whole show is a fanfare of pink outfits that I most definitely would love to wear. Legally Blonde you rocked tonight, grab your tickets before the tour moves on.
