If you’re like me and the thought of ironing brings you out in a cold sweat, then Laundrapp is the company for you!
Laundrapp offer a wide range of services from washing and drying to ironing and dry cleaning all manner of things from shirts and blouses to bedding and tablecloths, and the best part is they will collect and deliver straight to and from your front door – neat! The service is available UK wide, however it would appear to be limited to cities for the moment but hopefully they’ll expand soon…
I was very kindly given the opportunity to give them a spin (get it?!), and I can honestly say I jumped at the chance to have my washing and ironing done for me – who wouldn’t!?
I waited for the laundry to pile up for a few days and then I visited the Laundrapp website (you can also download an app to your phone). The site itself is straightforward and really easy to use. All the items are held within categories such as suits, shirts, dresses, bedding etc and you can easily make your selection from there, they also offer the opportunity to bulk buy pre-paid services, which come with a discount, including 100 hung shirts, 25 blouses and 25 dresses.
I opted for:
- ‘High five’ – 5 shirts washed, ironed and hung
- 5 hung shirts – iron only
- 1 wash, tumble dry and fold (up to 6kg of clothes)
All of this came to under £40 – a bargain! – and I booked collection for the Tuesday evening, and drop off for the Thursday evening. I also downloaded the app to make life easier for checking on its progress later down the line.
Come Tuesday, the driver turned up ahead of time – Laundrapp sent me a couple of messages telling me he was early, or if it wasn’t suitable he could wait until the allotted time which is a great feature, as luckily we were in so were happy for him to come round early. The only thing was that I was a little unclear on was how they would collect my items – as my order included items that could be washed and tumble dried, some that were to be washed but not tumble dried, shirts that had to be washed and ironed, and shirts that had already been washed and needed to be ironed, it was slightly confusing. The driver and I got it sorted in the end and everything ended up between two bags, the standard Laundrapp collection practice.
In the blue bag, I placed all the items for general wash/drying, and I then put the ‘to be washed and ironed’ shirts in a black bag, and like that, the driver was gone.
I’ll admit, I was slightly apprehensive as I saw the driver walk off with half my wardrobe, wondering how, and if, it would return to me. Well, I needn’t have been so nervous – when the driver returned my items on Thursday, earlier than planned again, I immediately took to checking the items, and I couldn’t have been happier.
The ironed shirts looked great – my other half was incredibly impressed as there wasn’t a crease to be found on his shirts and it would appear that they had even slightly starched the collar and button areas, much to his delight. My washed/tumble dried clothes looked slightly squished in their clear plastic bag, which was delivered in the original blue washing bag the driver had provided, but I think they must have just moved around during their van journey, and were totally fine when I took them out. An added bonus is that I got to keep the blue wash bag, which will come in handy in the future!
Overall, I would definitely use again, especially for the convenience of the collection / delivery aspect as well as the prospect that hard to clean items can be taken care off in a quick and professional manner.
