Do you enjoy entertaining guests for dinner? Or are you looking for a fun new date night idea or some family fun? Then this Artesā fondue set could be for you! With its contemporary and stylish copper-effect stainless steel pot, black stand and base plate, along with the easy-to-use instructions, it makes for a classy and fun dinner party. It can be used with oil for cooking meat or vegetables, as a cheese fondue to coat some crusty bread, or with chocolate to dip some tasty fruit, biscuits or even marshmallows in – or wherever your imagination may take you! Myself and my husband tried the oil version cooking beef in it for our date night. It is very lightweight to use and it was easy to heat the oil, placing the actual fondue pot on the hob to do so, then transferring it to the stand afterwards. It is important to note that the gel fuel lighters needed for the fondue are not included in the set, but these are readily available to purchase online. It was easy to assemble, the only slight difficulty being locking in the fuel burner so that it does not move when turning the adjustable diffuser on top of it to turn the heat up or down. Once locked though it is easily controlled by turning the dial, and a snuffer is also included to extinguish the flames for when you have finished.
The fondue arrived quickly and in a sleek, stylish black arty box, and all the pieces inside were individually wrapped in plastic – not great for the environment, but it did keep the set clean and scratch free. 6 forks are included so this would be the maximum amount of people that could use it at one time, and the pot is 16cm wide. There are notches to rest your forks into the fondue so you can leave them balanced in the pot while you are busy eating what you have already made! After use it is important to let it cool before washing as it gets extremely hot and you do not want to burn yourself. There was slight discolouring left on the bottom afterwards and a black line inside where the top of the oil reached to, but this will not affect its future use, only a little on how it looks.
Artesā’s slogan is to ‘serve, dine, entertain’, and they also sell other items including serving platters and slate stands, which would be a nice addition to this set especially if you want to throw a chic dinner party. Whilst the fondue set is quite pricey for what it is, I think if you will use it often enough then it is worth the money. It has a more contemporary, sophisticated look than many other available, and it glimmers next to candle light adding to the ambience even more. We are excited to use the set again as a family – trying out the chocolate version this time!
