Baby training cups have been a bit of a quest for me, as my eldest son struggled to find one we both liked and so we tested quite a few… and was nearly grounds for divorce if I bought yet another.
I was delighted to try the Munchkin 9oz Lock Click Sippy Cup with my twins, who were just under the recommended 9 months when we got it.
The cup is lovely and bright, with ours sporting a lovely Zoo design which is colourful and attractive. I was delighted to note that the levels of packaging were not excessive too and there were easy to follow instructions contained in the lid.
The twins had no issue in using the cup and 'got' the technique straight away. Small handles may have been preferable at their age to ease self-holding, but would be ideal for a slightly larger child. The big test was no leaks when it, inevitably, crashed to the floor – and it passed with flying colours unlike so many others.
Although the cup is top dishwasher rack safe, I chose to handwash as I do with other cups and my babies bottles. Unfortunately, this is where I encountered a bit of a niggle with the cup, as after only a couple of washes, water leached into the insulation section which does look a bit unsightly.
Overall, a good cup which does the job and does not spill, but we do seem to have been unlucky with the seal in our case, and as such 3/5.
