I was so lucky to be given the chance to review the above venue situated at 63-66 St Martins Lane, London, WC2N 4JS. It was very easy to find right in the centre of Covent Garden. When we arrived at 8pm the place was packed in the bar area (apparently it was still happy hour), we walked through to the back where there was a separate seating/restaurant area. The décor and interior was really special foot to ceiling red velvet with some lovely period paintings (from Victorian era), this is a perfect place to reserve for a private party, your guests would be instantly impressed. We were shown our table but straight away we noticed a wobbly leg so asked if we could move so we did but then we was right underneath the air-conditioning vent which was a bit drafty so we moved again, 3rd time lucky! I noticed there were quite a few couples and also larger groups seated to dine. The atmosphere was instantly buzzing, we could hear some really good music which wasn't unbearably loud we could still easily hold a conversation!

Our waitress asked what we wanted to drink, I ordered a glass of wine and my guest a Bellini, I also requested a glass of tap water. This arrived within a few minutes, so we was pleasantly surprised at the speed, my guest then said she would also like a glass of water and we was then offered a jug, which actually came again a few minutes later well presented in a bottle with lid, it was still tap water and great we had plenty of water to accompany our food. We looked at the menu which was quite simple but plenty to choose from there was around 7 starters ranging from olives, king prawns and calamari amongst others and 3 sharing options, we decided on The Kamique Platter, which was homemade hoisin duck spring rolls, yakitori chicken skewers, hand wrapped vegetable spring rolls and prawn crackers. We also liked the look of the nachos so ordered that too there was an option to add chicken or chilli beef we didn't go for this option. Our nachos came within about 10 minutes, the portion was a very generous size, we probably left half as knew we had the platter on its way. The platter was presented really well with a selection of 4 dips, the food was lovely some lovely flavours.

The waitress was very friendly and asked if everything ok etc… and it was absolutely fine. We then studied the menu for our main choices, there was a selection of 7 different burgers including chicken, beef, falafel and chipotle with extra options of cheese, bacon, onion rings and other options including jalapenos etc… There was also a choice of 7 other main dishes ranging from salmon, traditional fish & chips steak, prawn salad, 2 curries and a vegetarian option. Really we were spoilt for choice, I ordered the Kamique Pad Thai curry and my guest ordered the green curry without the chicken and some sweet potato fries for a side and rocket parmesan salad.

When our food came we couldn't believe how massive the portions were, we both struggled to eat half. The food was so tasty, lots of texture and colour. These main dishes were £9 & £10, which is such good value and sides were £3 & £3.50. 1 main dish could easily be shared by 2 people. The side dishes were really tasty, especially the sweet potato fries! If I was to visit this venue again, I would only order 1 main. We then had another drink, I stuck to wine as didn't really want to mix my drinks. When we looked at the drinks menu we were spoilt for choice, there are 13 pages of drink choices, ranging from so many cocktails wines, beer and soft drinks. The cocktail list included classics like Long Island Iced Tea, Martinis, Mojitos, there was something to suit everyone! I've never seen such a big choice for cocktails, these ranged from £8 to £10 each. Apparently happy hour is 5 to 8pm, which is a reasonable price to pay £4.50 for each drink! Once we finished our food, we then went to the bar area and found some lovely comfortable sofas to sit on! The place was full to the brim and such a lovely atmosphere, everyone was in really good spirits! There were lots of couples and larger groups of all age ranges! We had one more drink and left at midnight when it apparently was closing time. The bar was still 3/4 full, so not sure if the place did shut promptly soon thereafter.

Value:  not sure I would actually pay £9 for a Bellini, which was a very small glass but I guess that's to be expected in the centre of London. But I guess a good time to visit is happy hour. Food though I thought was magnificent value, and wouldn't hesitate to go back for lunch or dinner or a place to consider for pre-theatre dinner.

Highly recommend, the place to hang out and spend some time enjoying real quality food and such a good choice of drinks! Can't wait to return!

This venue is a good option to book for private party also.
