We are a bit mad on drinks bottles in our house – I have no idea why, but both me and the kids all own multiple bottles and get ridiculously excited about new ones, all whilst my partner stands their scratching his head, wondering what all the fuss is about! We recently tried out the Kambukka 3-in-1 Coffee Cup, and absolutely loved the quirkiness of the design, the quality of the manufacture and the well thought out features of the bottle, so we were more than happy to try out their Lagoon kids’ water bottles ready for the kids going back to school in September.
My daughter is unicorn mad, and we were really lucky that one of the products in the range is a 500ml Rainbow Unicorn design, but there really is something for everyone, with designs including robots, superheroes, mermaids and aliens, as well as plainer options and even stainless steel insulated bottles. The Lagoon range includes both 500ml and 400ml bottles too, so they have options for younger kids all the way up to teenagers and even adult who just want something a bit different.
We were sent the 500ml Rainbow Unicorn bottle, which is a lovely deep blue colour. I have to say that I think having a unicorn bottle in blue is a fantastic change, as my daughter isn’t really a huge fan of pink, and most unicorn themed products are pink and lilac! The main body of the bottle is made from thick Tritan plastic, and the quality feels fantastic. There is no flexing at all when you squeeze the bottle, but equally it doesn’t feel brittle at all either – just really good quality. The lid on the bottle is one of the bits that really stood out for me; the design is not like one I have ever seen before, and is as innovative and clever as the one on the coffee cup.
The Lagoon is a straw-type drinks bottle, but one with a difference. The first notable difference compared to other drinks bottles we have is that the straw is angles, which makes it far easier to get the last few drops of juice out of the bottle. It sounds like a small thing, but it’s indicative of the little design features that Kambukka seem to do so well! The lid has a textured and rubberised band around it, making it easier to grip and reducing the risk of it being dropped. There is also a very handy little fold-down handle built into the lid, again making the bottle really easy to hold, and it also clips perfectly onto buggy rings and the carabiner that my youngest has clipped onto her schoolbag.
As I said, this is a straw-type drinks bottle, but one with a difference. When you pull the flap up to drink, you are confronted with a flat, silicone type mouthpiece, which is far easier to drink out of than a standard straw and ideal for younger kids as well as older ones.
The Lagoon range are all made from BPA-free Tritan plastic, meaning they are scratch resistant and also don’t absorb any odours or colours from whatever drink you might have in the bottle that day. They are a doddle to wash too – we don’t have a dishwasher, so I have been handwashing it and all of the parts disassemble and reassemble really easily for thorough cleaning. It is also dishwasher safe, which is great to see. I also love that all Kambukka drinks bottles have interchangeable lids, so you can use the lid of this one with a thermal coffee cup if you want to keep your cold beverage really code. Equally, all of the lids are resistant to high temperatures, so if you did want to use this lid with a hot drink in the thermal cup, that’s fine too!
I love our new Kambukka Unicorn Lagoon drinks bottle; it’s the perfect size, great quality and has some nifty little design features too – and the fun designs make it ideal for taking to back to school in September.
