Getting the email telling me I’d been selected for this review was great timing – our anniversary and I get chosen to review my wife’s favourite comedian – sorted!
We’ve watched Jason Manford on the television many times and also follow him on Facebook so had a good idea of what to expect and we weren’t disappointed. He started his routine chatting to the audience like you’d imagine he would if you met him down the pub and had you belly laughing from the start. At first it seemed he was doing it all ad-hock as he was very much interacting with the audience, the front row in particular – so be warned if you choose to book front row tickets! I’m sure he wasn’t but it all came across very naturally and like he was very much enjoying himself up there. He was entertaining, engaging and hilariously funny. Manford jokes about everyday occurrences rather than having any particular comic style, i.e. political, and talked a lot about his experience of entertaining the troops out in Afghanistan. The interval came round all too soon and Manford had asked members of the audience to write down their First World moans and returned for the second half with his chosen replies – this was fabulous for audience participation and shows how funny we could all be too, well, no we couldn’t be, he just made us all sound funny!
I’m not going to give away any more of the show and he even gagged that if were to recall this to our workmates on Monday morning all we’d be able to remember is a complete muddle of something about a gas salesman, a rolling poo and new names for male anatomy!
The show finished without us ‘clock-watching’ once, it was a great set and we’ll definitely be going to see him again – Jason, fancy booking another tour for the next anniversary please?!!
A definite 5 out of 5, it was so funny we nearly… well, you’d have to go see the tour to know how that ends!
Jason Manford and his First World Problems Tour is touring the UK until 30 July 2014. For more information and tour dates visit www.jasonmanford.com.
