Myself & my daughter had never read the book so we were unsure what to expect but the storyline was quite easy to follow. The first 10 minutes of the show were a mix of sad, serious & comical, but after that it was catchy lively music that had us tapping our toes one minute then dramatic music that had us on the edge of us seat waiting for something to happen & not knowing when it would. The outfits were not over the top or overly dramatised (apart from the evil aunts who were very funny) but the enthusiasm & individuality of each main character made you believe what they were.
The show had a fab mix of special effects (a few of which were unexpected & caused a few “jumps” in the audience, it had a fab mix of simple comedy for the children & hidden comedy for the older children/adults so worked really well on both levels, they also involved the audience in parts of the show which was fun.
I would definitely go to see this again and recommend it.
Jessica: I had fun going to see James & The Giant Peach, it was really funny & had some little bits that were a bit rude, some of the insects were a bit naughty & that made me laugh, it was really fun & I want to go watch it again.
