Myself, my mother and my 22 month old son drove from Eccles in Manchester to Crewe’s Lyceum Theatre to see the Christmas panto Jack and the Beanstalk. I found the theatre really easy to find. Once we arrived there were lots of parking spaces outside of the theatre which is free to park after 6pm this was great as the performance didn’t start until 7pm.

The Lyceum Theatre is a traditional theatre with a 3 storey high circular auditorium with decorative plasterwork both around the stage, on the walls and ceiling.

Upon arrival to the theatre we were greeted by a steward who showed us to the ticket desk, the ladies where helpful then the steward shown us which way we needed to go to our seats. Once seated the chairs where comfy although they were not so wide and there wasn’t much leg room although we had a great view of the stage.

I always watch Coach Trip and love Brendon Sheerin I think he’s really funny. I also like Lisa Riley previously stared in Emmerdale and previous presenter of You’ve Been Framed! It was really good to see both the celebrities taking part in the show. We could clearly see and hear the cast, the special light effects where good along with the smoke machine, fireworks, colourful sets, dancing, singing, inflatable beanstalk and  beautiful costumes.

There was a character called Simon who really got the audience going, with his sense of humour, pulling jokes, getting members of the audience on stage to sing songs and make animal noises which was really funny, he also shot the audience with a range of different water pistols.

Half way through the pantomime there was an interval which was great as it gave us time to stretch our legs, get refreshments from the pop up food and sweet stand and bar, there’s also a children’s stand where I bought my son a light up windmill!

This is the third pantomime my son has been too and he really enjoyed it I shall definitely be keeping my eyes peeled for future pantomimes, A very good evening and would definitely recommended Jack and the Beanstalk…
