Aircharge Wireless Charging Keyring Receiver Review

Reviewed by David Savage

Pretty much everybody has a mobile phone these days. Every mobile phone has a battery and every battery needs to be charged (sometimes every day depending on how much you use it). So what do you do if when out and about you want to top up your battery? Do you carry around your charger and start looking for somewhere to plug it in? Or carry around a portable charger?

A lot of new phones these days have wireless charging and lots of shopping centres and places like McDonald’s have wireless charging facilities. But if you have an older phone without this function, they are not much use to you, that is until now.

I was recently sent an Aircharge Wireless Charging Keyring Receiver, which is a wireless charging receiver that fits on your keyring and makes older phones / tablets etc. able to charge wirelessly!

This is a really useful bit of kit. It is small enough to fit on a keyring or to leave in your bag or pocket. It is compatible with any Qi wireless-enabled charger and works with Micro USB enabled phones and tablets and also MFi Lightning connector enabled iPhones (i.e. iPhone 7).

When I first picked it up I was very dubious that it would work as there is very little weight to it (about 18g), but it did charge my phone wirelessly and quite fast as well. By pulling out the Micro USB cable that is on a short cable you just plug it in to your device and place the receiver on a wireless charger pad, that’s it – your device should now start getting a charge. If you are using an iPhone you just plug the Micro USB into the Lightning connector that is slotted into the side of the received and pull it out.

If that wasn’t enough, the next part is great. You can download an app to go along with it. The idea of the app is that you can set a battery alert so that when your battery level drops to that amount you will receive a notification on your phone and a list of the nearest wireless charging spots (there are over 5000 on the app – places like McDonald’s, Costa etc.) will appear. What a great little idea, you never need to worry about running out of battery again or rush around looking for a charging spot or plug socket.

Overall, this is a very handy little device. It is small and lightweight and the app to locate wireless charging places is excellent. This would make the perfect Christmas gift for those that are always using their phones and worrying about their battery life. Available in Black nylon or Chrome Aluminium (silver).
