Interview with Joseph Thompson and Nicole Barber-Lane

We recently interviewed Joseph Thompson & Nicole Barber-Lane who play
Dr Paul Browning and Myra McQueen on Hollyoaks. 

This is what they had to say about recent storylines…

1. Myra is very protective of her family. How does she react when she learns that her daughter is about to marry a murderer?
Nicole – She is very shocked and doesn’t want her to go through with it any more. She panics when Dr Browning takes Mercedes to the church, the last thing she wants is for Mercy to marry a murderer.

2. What lengths will Dr Browning go to in order to stop the truth of what really happened between him and Lynsey going any further?
Joe – He's killed before and got away with it, and he's completely ruthless. I think what's exciting is that he's capable of anything….

3. Now that Jim and Myra know what Browning is capable of, are they worried for their own and/or the rest of the McQueen’s safety?
Nicole – Oh yes definitely. She is worried about what the impact will be on Mercy first of all and then what he might do to the rest of the family as well. Myra will always make sure her family is safe as best she can, no matter what it takes…

4. How does Dr Browning cope with his recent encounters with Lynsey’s ghost?
Joe – Not too well! He's completely messed up. It's a big problem for him when he's not in control, so to be powerless over his own emotions and subconscious is bad news.

5. The McQueen family has a vast amount of deep and dark secrets. Will the latest revelation be yet another that gets brushed under the carpet with all the others?
Nicole – The viewers will have to stay tuned to see how this story unfolds. There are lots of twists and turns

6. How do you all get on with each other off screen?
Nicole – Really well. We work so much together so it’s important that we get along.
Joe – Sophie's brilliant, she's been a great addition to the cast. There's a really nice atmosphere through the company at the minute and she's slotted straight in. It's nice to see that her and the Roscoes have gone down so well with the fans straight away.

7. Any funny stories?
Nicole – We all went for a meal together but unfortunately Mandip Gill, who plays Phoebe wasn’t very well afterwards. That’ll teach us for being adventurous with our food!
