I am a huge fan of Italian food, somewhat to the detriment of my waistline, and Prosciutto di Parma has always been up there as one of my favourites.
This handy little book really embraces the fabulous main ingredient, though in most of the cases would describe more as serving suggestions rather than full blown recipes, so ideal for those new to the ingredient and more novice cook. There are a couple of really standout recipes that are going to feature in my future repertoire, the Parma ham-wrapped Scallops with Marsala and Sage being one of them… yum yum, though some seem a step too far adding Parma Ham for the sake of it, sorry Parma breakfast but that’s my take on it.
Each recipe comes accompanied with a beautiful photograph, all of which are stunning and certainly get those taste buds going. There are also some beautiful Italian landscape shots which really have me yearning to go back to Italy. The recipes are well written and easy to follow and there are also handy cooks tips about how the recipe can be adapted to use other ingredients if one is lacking in your larder or to make the course into a starter from a main etc…
I am a great believer of celebrating fantastic ingredients and letting them do the culinary talking, and in the majority of instances this little book really lives up to this ethos. For those yet to discover this fantastic product, this book will certainly entice you to try and give you lots of ideas of flavour combinations along the way.
Prosciutto di Parma always gets a 5/5 for me as a product, this book is a helpful little addition and would rate 3.5, and will certainly have you reaching for Parma Ham in your shopping basket.
