Saturday afternoon we decided to try the new Sizzling Menu at Chiquito’s Milton Keynes. Although it is on Midsummer Boulevard, not far from the main shopping centre, we had no trouble parking.
We arrived about 2pm and were quickly shown to a table. My almost 10 year old granddaughter was given a children’s menu, an activity pack and a balloon.
We decided on one portion of Proper Garlic Bread which was served with a pot of melted garlic butter and one portion of Nachos for One between the three of us. Not being drinkers we all chose diet coke to have with our meal.
My granddaughter chose Lasagne from the Young Adults menu whilst I couldn’t decide between the Mexican Chicken Skewer or the Pollo Del Fuego from the new Sizzling Specials menu. Our waiter Ewen was really helpful and when I told him I was not a lover of very spicy food he guided me towards the Mexican Chicken Skewer which was served with a choice of sides and sauces. My daughter chose Grilled Steak for her fajitas and was asked how she would like it cooked. She turned down the guacamole and sour cream that normally comes with it and chose just to have salsa and cheese with the fajitas.
Our starters arrived. The garlic bread was delicious, even more so when dipped in the melted garlic butter. The nachos had Texan cheese sauce, jalapeno peppers, melted cheese, guacamole, sour cream and salsa over them, my daughter and I loved them but my granddaughter said her mouth was ‘bursting’ when she tried some of the nachos. When Ewen heard this he came to tell us the Lasagne my granddaughter had chosen was spicy and asked if she would like the menu again to choose an alternative. She then chose fish fingers from the Kid’s Favourites menu!!
Our main courses arrived sizzling, and continued to sizzle for quite a long time. I had two skewers of grilled chicken breast with mixed green vegetables which were served on a bed of sizzling fajita vegetables with a side order of skin on fries. My daughter had strips of grilled steak on sizzling mixed fajita vegetables with fajitas, cheese and salsa. My granddaughter had fish fingers, chips, carrots and broccoli.
My chicken was lovely and tender but I couldn’t manage all the vegetables or the skin on fries served with it. My daughter’s beef was delicious and was served with spiced fajita onions, mixed peppers, fajitas, cheese and salsa.
My daughter and I had a look at the desert menu but decided we couldn’t manage one, my granddaughter on the other hand felt she could and went for jelly, just on its own!
We each had a lovely meal which we really enjoyed and left feeling very satisfied!
Prices are very reasonable and I can thoroughly recommend giving the new Sizzling Specials menu a try.
