Hape Viking Castle Review

As a mum of 3, I am a huge fan of educational toys, especially those which encourage imaginative play. I was therefore delighted to receive the Hape Viking Castle to review.

The package arrived promptly and in perfect condition. The box had a simple but effective design. I had two excited little boys who could not wait to play with the castle. I usually find putting together toys quite daunting, but I should not have worried as it was assembled in no time (about 15-20 minutes).

The first thing that then struck me was how well built it is. It measures approx. 87x53x25cm, has some movable parts and comes with two warriors, a dragon, a magic cauldron and much more! The colour scheme of the castle itself is so striking and the detail that has gone into it is amazing. This means that my 6-year-old twins can get hours and hours of play value from it. I tend to find that wooden toys look so much nicer and last longer than plastic toys.

This toy is ideal to promote your child’s motor skills. It really brings out the imagination too. We had great fun making the warriors and dragon interact and ended up in fits of giggles. It’s also a great toy for making history fun. You can act out Viking battles. The best toys are those where children do not even realise that they are learning. I am sure that the doll’s house characters from our Hape Family Mansion will be paying a visit to the Viking castle soon. The warriors can even entertain their guests using the Hape piano.

I have been lucky enough to review a good few Hape toys now, and every single one has stood up to some rough play and the test of time. I cannot wait to review more toys from the range.
